Korok Party!
Along with being an artist, I also enjoy playing video games. “The Legend of Zelda” has been a hyper fixation of mine the last few years.
I decided to start a collection relating to the Zelda series and characters. These little 2″ paintings are Koroks from “Breath of The Wild” and “Tears of the Kingdom”.

The Final Blow
Recently I have been challenging myself with color matching and color theory. Specifically in a work in progress called “The Last Blow” which depicts Link destroying the final boss in Legend of Zelda “Tears of the Kingdom”(TOTK). This specific image was taken from my personal play through of the game. Link is wearing the Fierce Deity clothing set and is using the Master Sword. I wanted to use this painting as an opportunity to work on my color mixing and color theory practice. All of the colors were hand mixed using CMY color palette. I used the edges as a chance to add in some pattern elements that show up frequently in the game design.

“The Legend of Zelda”

In this painting I used elements from different games throughout the series. The Tri-force is a common symbol throughout all the Zelda games. The circular dragon looped into the Tri-force is part of the TOTK logo.
At the start of the game Link walks underground underneath Hyrule castle with Zelda. They walk through a room with a wall full of hieroglyphs. The drawings paint a picture of ancient Hyrule history and prophecies for future generations. The last image is covered in rock and reveled later on in the game when Link revisits the site. After destroying the rock, an image of a dragon ascending is carved onto the wall.
The decayed master sword is first seen in the beginning of the game when Link rises from his 100 year slumber in the Room of Awakening.
I added a small Korok features in BOTW and TOTK.
The small fairy, Navi, is from Ocarina of Time.
Lastly I added some characters/text along with patterns used in the game design of TOTK. They can be found in various parts throughout the game including loading screens, ancient monuments, road signs… etc.
This has been one of my favorite projects to work on. I love adding in all the different elements from the different games. The Zelda series is so complex, from the timelines connecting all the games to the game design itself. I love this series and everything it has to offer. If you have never played a Zelda game I highly recommend it. Not only are they enjoyable to play through, but they also have lots of challenging puzzles and quests to make you really think and use your brain. While there is a very loose (and I mean really loose and all over the place) timeline of in game stories, you can play them in any order without being too confused. And if you are someone who has played and loved any of the games in the series, I hope you can enjoy and appreciate the art I’ve made!
